The process

Each session begins with an envelope. Sealed with wax. Inside everything you need to begin your waiting time. Then the soap begins.

Three layers. Three phases. Between each one you wait. And while you wait, you color.

Clarity.
The first layer is transparent. Inside it, sealed in glycerin a phrase about waiting, written by someone who was here before you. Visible. Unreachable.

Transformation.
The second layer holds something that hasn't become what it will be yet.
Patient. Dormant. Already changing.

Presence.
The final layer is yours. Your scent. Your choice. The most personal layer. The one you decide freely. When you unmold the soap, Clarity appears first. It was underneath everything the whole time.

Your words will travel.

At the end of each session, you write a phrase about waiting. Your words. Your name. In the next session, those words are printed on translucent film and sealed inside a stranger's soap.

You will not know them. They will not know you. But your waiting times will be connected, visible through the transparency, permanent.

The first session carries the artist's own words. The last session carries the words of everyone who waited before.

What will you take with you

A handmade soap made by yourself. An illustrated booklet as a tangible object about waiting. A quote written by yourself that will travel forward, sealed inside someone else's soap.
